Understanding Category View Types in Your POS
To help you navigate and manage your products more efficiently during billing, the POS screen offers Category View Types. This feature lets you control how products appear while selling.
Hereβs how it works:
π Toggle Category View
At the top of your POS screen, you'll find a category toggle icon. This lets you switch between the following views:
1. Grouped View (Default)
Products are grouped and shown based on their assigned categories.
A horizontal scroll shows category shortcuts.
Only products under the selected category are shown.
Long press on any category to view the number of products inside it.
β
Best for structured inventory with many categories.
2. Flat View
All products appear in a single grid without any category separation.
Products are shown in the order they are fetched.
Useful for quick lookup or when categories are not used.
β
Best for small inventories or rapid selection.
3. Search-Based View
When you search using the keyword bar:
The product grid filters in real time.
It ignores category grouping and shows all matching items.
β
Best for when you're looking for a specific product quickly.
βΉοΈ Notes to Keep in Mind:
β A product will not appear if:
It's not enabled for POS.
It's not assigned to any category (in grouped mode).
β οΈ Categories with no products assigned will not appear.
π For performance, only 50 items are loaded per page and grouped client-side.
π‘ Pro Tip:
Use the grouped view for organized selling, flat view for faster access, and search view for quick lookups β switch as per your sales workflow
